What is collected, and what is not

Short, because there is not much of it. This site is a shop and a reference library, not an advertising business, and it is built that way.

There is no account

You cannot sign up, and there is no password to lose. Orders are looked up with a reference and the email address you gave. That is a deliberate design decision and it means there is no standing profile of you here to leak.

What is collected, and why

When you order
Your name, email address, postal address, and telephone number if you give one. Used to send the parcel, to send the invoice and confirmation, and to answer you if there is a question. Kept as long as business records are required to be kept.
When you ask a question or post to the forum
Your question, and an email address if you give one so you can be told the answer. Your email address is never published — it is withheld from the public interface at the database level, not merely left out of a page. Your name is published as the credit for asking, and only if you gave one.
When you post a wanted listing
What you are looking for, and an email address to reach you. The most you said you would pay is never shown to anyone, including the seller. Nor is your email address. Both are withheld at the database level for the same reason: what is public is the demand, not your negotiating position.
When you use the cart
A cookie holding the items you picked and how many. No name, no address, no price, and nothing that identifies you. It expires after thirty days.
When you sell here
The details on your application and the documents you send to be vetted. Documents are readable only by the operator, never by the public interface. Your public dealer page shows only what you chose to put on it.

What is not collected

  • Card details never touch this site. When online card payment opens, the card is entered directly into the payment processor’s own field and this site receives a token, never a number.
  • No advertising trackers, no ad network, no retargeting pixels.
  • Nothing is sold or rented to anyone, ever.
  • No profile is built for advertising.

Who else sees anything

Only the services needed to run the shop:

  • the hosting platform, which serves the pages;
  • the database provider, which stores the records;
  • the email provider, which sends confirmations and answers;
  • the payment processor, when card payment opens — they see the payment, not your browsing;
  • the carrier, which gets the address it needs to deliver the parcel;
  • the dealer, if you buy from a third-party dealer on this marketplace: they receive your name and address in order to post your parcel, and nothing else about you.

Aggregate, non-identifying page statistics are used to see which pages are useful. They do not follow you between sites.

Asking for your data, or its removal

Email butch@butchsantiquegunparts.com and it will be handled by a person, not a form. You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted — subject to records we are required to keep for completed orders.

Children

This site is not directed at children and nothing here is knowingly collected from them.

Changes

The date at the top says when this was last reviewed. Anything that materially changes what is collected will be said plainly here rather than absorbed into a longer document.
